The short answer
Pick WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage (US numbers) or email. Phone calls are coming soon. Cosmo only messages a contact after you prove it's yours: text him a 6-digit code (WhatsApp, iMessage), tap the Telegram link, or click the email confirmation link.
Set your channel during onboarding, or later in Connections → Where Cosmo talks to you.
Verifying your contact

Why verify? Without it, anyone could type your number into their own workspace and get messages or approve things as you. A contact that's already linked to another Cosmo workspace can't be added again.
What each channel can do
- WhatsApp and Telegram: chat, send voice notes (Cosmo transcribes them), and tap buttons on each card. See How approvals work.
- iMessage (US numbers): chat and text replies like "👍" or "approve 2". There are no buttons. It needs Cosmo's iMessage line to be set up; if Connections says "iMessage isn't configured on this server yet", pick another channel for now. Messages that fall back to SMS are treated as chat only.
- Email: a daily brief with Approve and Skip links under each card, each with a confirm step. Replying "yes" to the email never approves anything. See Which channels can approve.
Coming soon
- Phone calls. Calls will need a PIN, and a call can never approve a card. Until then, voice notes on WhatsApp or Telegram are the way to talk to Cosmo.
- Slack and SMS.
